Although suburbs are often seen as a homogeneous single-family residential typology, we have characterized different identities in Westwood that exist in isolation. The project tries to understand the different identities present in the suburbs, in a way to reconcile them and create a set of strategies applicable in different suburban contexts.
As we considered site interventions, we located ways to stitch the developments together while maximizing the preservation of the natural environmental fabric. We create a pattern of existing buildings, streets, and landscape which set up the framework for our interventions.
